February 19, 2019 – With hopes of helping create a new high-end tasting destination and a gateway to the Corralitos Wine Trail, Sante Arcangeli Family Wines is planning a new tasting room in the soon-to-open Aptos Village Development.
“We’ll have a small space connected with a barn door to our friends at the Sockshop and Shoe Company next door,” says owner John Benedetti, who hopes to open by June.
The new tasting room will be just up the block from David Kinch’s new restaurant, Mentone, and across the Village Green from the planned New Leaf market.
“We’ve been talking with the folks at Armitage Wine and Cantine and are hoping to create a pretty fun community space and an upscale, high-end tasting destination in Aptos,” says Benedetti, adding that a number of local craft breweries are also looking into opening a brewery or tap room in the new development. “It can help start bringing people to South County and serve as a gateway to the Corralitos Wine Trail.”
Benedetti is working with designer Timerie Gordon of Neilsen Studios on the interior of the new tasting room. Sante Arcangeli has a production facility in Aromas and a tasting room in Pescadero, which will remain in operation.
